In the Union Territory of Puducherry, the mass vaccination drive launched to prevent the spike of Covid 19 cases has gained momentum. Six villages in Puducherry and four hamlets in Karaikal district have achieved 100% inoculation of people aged over 45 years.
About 3 lakhs 14 thousand 831 persons were inoculated with the Covid vaccination in the Union Territory so far. This includes 2 lakhs 3 thousand 897 general public, 36,149 Health Care Workers and 22 thousand 609 front line staffs. Mean while the Health Secretary Dr Arun informed that another Vaccination Festival would be conducted for four days from June 16 to 19. The test positivity rate has come down to 4.89 % .
The recovery rate increased to 93.38 % and the case fatality rate is 1.50%. According to the health department Puducherry reported 442 new cases of Covid infection today. 844 persons recovered and were discharged. A total number of 5,745 cases are under treatment. Of which 884 are in hospitals and 4,861 persons are under home isolation. The number of deaths has come down to single digit with 9 deaths today.
